Airport Chic: Your Guide to Holiday Travel
The only comfort of traveling is a safe arrival -- and having an outfit that effortlessly passes through security and stands out on the street. At least we can help with the latter...

A few things that make an outfit work for both a plane ride and an evening out is a layering piece that drapes as well as a blanket or a coat; a wrinkle-resistant (or wrinkle-irrelevant) pair of pants, and a purse to hold post-baggage claim heels. We put together three takes on this combination, that would fly on the East Coast or on the West Coast -- and work within the Midwest if your Thanksgiving happens to be a drive away.

Consider versatility when attempting to pack light. Inhabit’s textural stripes scoop neck top exudes simple chic with a long black skirt or when thrown on over a mini dress, and the neutral smoke shade matches any other color you could fit into your suitcase. Current Elliott’s skinny jeans in deep purple have a soft weave but make a strong statement during the day or night. Paired with Leighelena’s liquorice python belt, a crinkled leather vest from Kushi will jazz up a simple tee or tone down a button-up. And, Beracamy’s Lindy Hop bag has an edge that silently laughs in the face of travel’s discomfort -- or an in-law who’s had a few too many.

For a look that leans more towards an early afternoon gathering or an evening in, try Marika Charles’ supima cap sleeve tee in tomato with Schumacher’s cosy coat, Current Elliott’s skinny Patriot jeans, Farenheit NY’s grid buckle belt, and Beracamy’s Disco Bag, which is large enough to stuff with a dress and a pair of stiletto booties for Friday night. Schumacher’s three-button sweater lays well over a dress, pulled together with Farenheit’s gold-speckled belt. Whether in the city or your hometown, stay warm and look polished while you hop down the main drag.

Resting well on a plane might be more elusive than finding a fresh blanket, but at least you’ll have a guarantee of the latter when you curl up beneath We Are Owls’ Odette feather scarf. Shown with LBM’s blush-toned blazer, Schumacher’s Joy v-neck, G1’s cropped and cuffed work pant, and Rene Lezard’s hook belt, our third look has a cozy sophistication that works on either coast.
